A damage assessment records visible damage to a container and, where instructed, related cargo interfaces. It is a documentation exercise: location, nature of the observation and supporting images.
Common focus areas include panels, corner posts, roof, understructure, doors and seals. The report should distinguish what was observed from conclusions that would require additional expertise.
